About Alex Ruiz
I am dedicated to the transformative power of creativity. This power has changed my life many times over, having worked in nearly every industry as a professional artist. This power and immense privilege has allowed me to truly explore my deepest desires to create and manifest dreams into reality, as well as showing others how to do the same.
My journey as a professional artist has led me to work on multi-billion dollar films as a conceptual artist and art director, such as Avengers:Infinity War, Spiderman: Homecoming and Beauty and the Beast. As an animator on The Simpsons television show, I was able to explore my first love for traditional animation, and of course, comedy and satire:) As a product designer for 20th Century Fox's licensing department, I was able to design toys, sculptures, and artwork for many of their popular properties, including Avatar, Family Guy, McFarlane Toys, and many others. As a video game concept artist, I was able to explore the vast worlds of fantasy and sci-fi working on games for Sony and Activision. As a film pitch artist, I was able to help young directors land their dream projects, by giving them the powerful visuals they needed to sell their projects. As well, I've worked professionally in the comic, virtual reality, augmented reality and artist convention industries.
Lastly, and one of the most fulfilling areas of my professional art life, is teaching art. As a professional instructor at schools in Los Angeles such as the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art and Studio Arts, I was able to help many students achieve their dreams of creating the art they've always desired to create...whether or not they wanted to do it professionally. As well, I've taught many courses online through my own courses and tutorials, as well as through popular online schools such as the Computer Graphics Master Academy.
My current ventures are leading me down the path of art show installations, and further teaching, enhancing artist mental empowerment as well as technique. While I will still work in film, tv and games as a professional artist, I feel deeply led in this phase of my life to create my own art, for the love of art, for arts' sake. And alongside, extend the passion and technical instruction to others who want to walk the same road.
